When a septic system is not maintained it allows for build up to develop in the septic tank which in turn then effects the drainfield. A failed drainfield system can cost an individual $2,500.00 and even up to $18,000.00. The EPA and the local health department recommend that a septic tank be pumped every 3-4 years minimum depending on the use of the system and or the amount of individuals occupying the residence.
